The
excitement of high performance catamaran sailing plus superb handling
to ensure that sailors of all abilities can enjoy her. she is unashamedly
quick. If you sail a Dart 16, being overtaken is very rare indeed!
Dart 16 provides exciting performance, yet can easily be handled
by inexperienced crew. The responsiveness is similar to that found
on a racing dinghy, yet Dart 16 is exceptionally stable and forgiving.
For high winds, mainsail reefing is an option - the Jib can be
furled in seconds and in waves, Dart 16 handles better than many
larger catamarans thanks to the unique hull shape.
With skegs incorporated into the hull design, avoiding the requirement
for daggerboards, plus unique lifting rudders, setting off and returning
to shore is simplicity itself.
An exhaustive research and testing programme is a hallmark of all
Laser and Dart products. The results can clearly be seen on Dart
16.
- Take the main halyard system for raising and lowering the mainsail.
- On Dart 16 this is controlled from the base of the mast, avoiding
the need for a 'hook' at the mast head.
- The seamless trampoline simply slides into the front beam and
is easy to tension, providing a firm and comfortable platform.
- The rudder system is custom designed for the Dart 16, being
easy to raise, lower and automatically kicking up should the rudder
touch the seabed.
- A ball bearing block system is provided to control the mainsail
- this system is widely acclaimed for its efficiency. It took
three years to develop and is used on the International Dart 18.
All fittings on the Dart 16 provide supreme efficiency and outstanding
durability.
A materials technological breakthrough (Tecrothene A122) provides
a unique combination of strength and rigidity.
Tecrothene A122 is a new generation thermo plastic construction
that provides high structural uniformity and consistency, immense stiffness and exceptional impact strength. A linear high density
UV stabilised compound, moulded into a stress free homogeneous sandwich
with an inner closed cell cellular structure.
- Exceptionally strong
- superbly stiff
- Incorporates built-in buoyancy
- Easy to repair
- Highly resistant to scratching/impact damage
Why Dart 16?
Because you want an exciting catamaran that you can rig in minutes,
everybody can enjoy and is durable, whilst simple to maintain.
